Jesus makes His triumphal entry into Jerusalem riding on the back of a young donkey as the people cheer and lay palm branches before Him. All four gospel writers note the significance of this event as a fulfillment of Zechariah 9:9. John, the writer of our gospel account, says he didn’t put the pieces together until after Jesus rose from the dead. Why is this such an important fulfillment?
