Is the King James version the gold standard? It’s the “authorized” version – so who exactly authorized it and for what? It originally contained the Apocrypha; should we be including the Apocrypha in our Bible’s today? Why do the newer versions question the authenticity of the end of the gospel of Mark and the account of the woman caught in adultery in John 7? Finally, why does the wording differ between all the translations? Why does even the New King James differ from the King James? Even the King James version has undergone multiple revisions since 1611, the biggest one being the 1769 revision. If it was perfect and pure, why did it undergo 24,000 textual changes? Are the modern versions trustworthy? If so, are they equally trustworthy? Explore the fascinating history of the perfect word of God in the imperfect hands of men and help shatter the mysteries around Bible translations and extinguish the flames of distrust, dissension, and divisiveness that have been splitting churches and families for over fifty years. This study will look at the transmission of the Bible from the first century hand-written manuscripts of the inspired writers like Paul, Luke, and John to the printing of the various mass-produced translations available to us today in the 21st century.
